How recovery works

Non-SMS recovery

The finder sees instructions on your keyfob (or elsewhere e.g. on a screensaver) that include our telephone number and main web site address. They can contact us directly and we will recover your keys/item for you.

SMS recovery

Many people carry mobile phones and know how to use text (SMS) messages. The finder also sees the following instructions on your keyfob (or elsewhere e.g. on a screensaver):

Text 81289543 to 07624 492536

where 81xxxxxx is the unique Keysback serial number we assign to you. When they send that text message, the following happens completely automatically:

• The finder receives a text message back:
  

  Keysback 81289543 found?. Owner will call u. £7.50 cash reward. Pls leave msg 01624-618646 ur name, numbers, address. www.keysback.co.uk/kf.html

• You receive a text message (sent to up to 3 numbers you register when you join Keysback):
  

  Keysback 81289543. Your item lost?. Finder: 0871 756782. Meet + pay £7.50 cash reward. Leave voice msg 01624-618646 if u want. www.keysback.co.uk/kl.html

• You also receive similar notification via email if you want to.
• You can then contact the finder on their mobile phone and arrange to meet to collect your lost keys/item. If that is not convenient, the finder simply sends the item back to our Freepost address and we return it to you. Either way, the finder is due a £7.50 reward which you pay.
